Mom and I went and voted this morning. This is the first year I have been old enough to vote. Mom always votes and has made sure I understand how important it is to exercise our right to vote. She said that women had to fight for that right and if we as women don’t vote, it’s like spitting in the faces of all those women that fought so hard for us to have the right.
Mom also says that our country was built on fighting for freedom and this is the one freedom that we have that helps to keep the other freedoms alive. I didn’t realize just how important it was until my mother opened my eyes. It’s not just a right, it’s an obligation as an American to help chose who we want to run our country for the next 4 years. I just hope I made the right choice no matter who wins.
I listened to all the speeches and debates, I read all their plans, and I stopped and looked at what I thought was important for me and my family and voted for the candidate that I thought would best serve not only my family, but our country. I hope everyone else cast an informed vote too instead of just marking the party they always vote for. That’s one thing Mom taught me too. Don’t vote for the party, vote for who you think is the best candidate no matter what party they represent. Mom is a smart woman and I am lucky to have her for my mother.
My grandfather is 69 years old but still works every day. He is a lawyer so it’s not like he has a physically demanding job but it sure is a mentally demanding job, that’s for sure. He plans on working another couple years before he retires. I’m not sure why because it’s not like they really need the money. I just think it’s because he really enjoys what he does.
He prefers Made to Measure over off the rack suits because they fit so much better. There’s nothing like having to wear a suit and it not fitting right. Grandpa always goes online before he makes his appointment to pick out the material he wants. He has the most beautiful white hair you have ever seen and looks ‘dashing’ in a navy blue pinstriped suit. He has plenty of heavier suits and is looking for one that isn’t too heavy or too light either. I don’t know enough about suit material to know what each type is like he does.
I’m pretty sure he’ll get a double breasted suit with a vest because they look so good on him. The best part about where he gets his suits from is the way they measure their customers. They measure everything to make sure the suit you buy fits you like you want. They’ve been in business making suits for over 40 years so you are getting a quality suit. Grandpa made his appointment right on their web site and will have his suit before you know it. I can’t wait to see him in it either.

I haven’t had a lot of time to go shopping lately with school and work but I went to a department store and they have Christmas stuff out already. For crying out loud, it’s not even Halloween yet. There was more Christmas stuff out than Halloween stuff. What’s up with that? They are just turning Christmas into nothing but a retail holiday and it’s much more than that. Don’t they know that? Don’t they care? It seems that all they care about is money. But you know what, that’s my opinion.
Well before you know it, it will be Monday again. Today is my day to relax and spend some time with my family. Saturdays are usually for studying and spending time with Christian but Sunday, that’s my families special time together. It’s somewhat of a family tradition since Daddy left so I guess I need to thank him for this then. At least there’s one thing I can thank him for lately.
Mom and I usually cook a special big dinner for everyone. Here lately with Mom not feeling very well, I have done most of the cooking. I’m becoming a pretty good cook too I might add. I’m very proud of that because I know too many girls my age that can’t hardly boil water without a microwave oven.
Anyway today we’re trying something different and I sure hope it comes out good. I have a pot of homemade spaghetti sauce simmering on the stove right now. It’s not totally homemade because I do use the cheapest spaghetti sauce I can find but I doctor it up with green peppers, onions, hamburger, garlic, mushrooms, and extra chopped tomatoes. I also add a little cooking wine to it and it’s not too bad if I do say so myself. The ’something different’ part is the spaghetti. I got a spaghetti squash instead of the usual pasta noodles since Mom doesn’t need to be eating wheat.
I also have a nice salad made and will put some garlic bread on the table for the rest of us but I hate to do that because I know how much Mom likes garlic bread but she said the rest of us shouldn’t have to suffer just because she can’t have wheat right now. I’m learning a lot about what wheat is in and what it’s not in. It’s just about in everything. I’m really thinking about becoming a dietitian. I could really help people like my Mom in that field. I’ll keep you posted on that and how the ‘Spaghetti’ dinner came out. Gotta run stir the sauce so it doesn’t burn.
I admit it, I got in too big of a hurry and just wasn’t watching where I was going in the grocery store parking lot. I hit the darn shopping cart return area thingy. I found downey body shop, which is close by online, got an estimate online and even scheduled the appointment to have my car fixed right online. It wasn’t hard to find a good body shop with their site at all. Glad I found their site.
